Mentees: Enrollment is open now with the SUPERGirls & Mentors Interviews
closing, Sept 8th
Underserved means lack of access to affordable and consistent STEM education, digital/technology platforms, STEM activities, camps, innovation, quality education, resources, advanced economics, scholarships, industry
project-based internships, industry representative leadHERs and allies to support reaching one’s goals, aspirations and dreams.
A girl, who from birth, has is seeking access and equity to the above and who otherwise would not have access with equitable opportunities to reach her goals, dreams, and aspirations. She thrives or has the potential to thrive with the right support, skills, education, resources and mentor/allies in this world we call
STEM, while rising as a leadHER in STEM.
Once you have officially been selected and clears as a member, you will be matched with an industry mentor who is committed to supporting your through your STEM, leadHERship and STEM workforce exposure experience from Oct to June. During your mentoring journey, you will receive email reminders to help
you stay on track. Be engaged and commit to meeting with your mentor at least once a month for 30 minutes and at least 4 times a year in person for different experiences which include but are not limited to networking events, STEM career professional development and or leadHERship experiences, creative arts, selfcare and confidence building experiences, fun and ways to advance your academic and college/certification track through financial aid, scholarship, and internships opportunities.
1. Complete your Membership Application, during our application process. Complete an Interview. Commit to Membership Expectations and Opportunities. Complete Membership Fee. During the enrollment process,
you will select your mentoring preferences and establish your mentoring objective.

A current profile will allow your mentor to select any new opportunities to advance/reach your goals. Be sure to complete the About section; it displays in both your member and mentoring profiles. Since your privacy is a priority for SGSF, many of your profile fields are visible only to you by default. Be sure to change them to the correct visibility settings for SGSF Mentor to view.
Goal setting is critical to a successful mentoring relationship. The more specific the Mentoring Objective/Goals are, the better your odds are of finding the best possible mentoring match and reaching them within the specified time. Consider the following:
Mentees
• New professional areas you are looking to explore or new skills you hope to develop
• Certification courses or trainings you’d like to explore
• School or Athletic challenges you are currently experiencing
• Your hopes/expectations for the mentoring relationship and what you think makes a mentoring relationship successful
• What you hope your mentor will gain from this experience
• Your expectations of a mentor
• Any other factors/preferences your mentor should take into consideration
• If you participate in any extra curricular activities – sports or school clubs
Mentors
• Skills/strengths you possess that will help in mentoring someone in STEM
classes, or areas of interest
• Professional challenges you have faced in your career
• Your hopes/expectations for the mentoring relationship and what you think
makes a mentoring relationship successful
• What you hope your mentee will gain from this experience
• What qualities you think are essential in a good mentee
• What qualities you think are essential in a good mentor
• Any other factors/preferences your mentee should take into consideration
How to successfully build good study habits. How to successfully build healthy friendships. How to earn a college degree debt free. How to successfully obtain and maintain a project-based internship in high school and in the first two years of undergraduate studies. How to position yourself for a promotion. How to approach a performance review, how to transition into a new role, how to manage a specific workplace relationship, how to negotiate a salary with benefits that include stock options, PTO as well as a professional development budget, etc., are examples of goals. Expecting your mentor to find a job or internship for you is NOT an acceptable goal.
No. However, if you choose a mento that is not local, within your region, do note that in person opportunities will be limited and prohibit your ability to effectively
bond. NOTE: This only applies to Middle and High school SUPERGirls.
Collegiates and Graduate Students, you are most welcome to have a mentor that is not in your local area as your reach and ability to connect will expand your
opportunities for national and global education and workforce development.
You determine this outcome. If your member profile is completed within 73 hours of receipt, your matching could take a minimum of one week. Remember, the goal of SHSG is that all SUPERGirls and Collegiates are matched with mentors and will meet, Friday, Sept 22 for our Induction Ceremony.
You will receive an email sharing the update and contact information to connect.
Congratulations, you’re now in a mentoring relationship! You will be provided with
guidelines upon acceptance. Essentially, you will schedule a kickoff call with your
mentor along with your parent(s) and begin your mentoring journey.
You will meet based on the preferred method(s) indicated in your mentoring
profiles and as mutually agreed upon during your kickoff call
There is a minimum of a 30-minute monthly call, meeting which can be hybrid. You will also have at least 3 in person sessions/events that each mentor and mentee are expected to attend.
Yes, but there should be a good reason to do so. We encourage you to review their profile and mentoring objective to determine whether the relationship would
be mutually beneficial. If your potential mentor misinterpreted information in your profile, you may find her or him to be an inappropriate match. If you feel there is a major personality conflict, please share in writing. There may be ways to overcome those barriers with a simple phone call or touchpoint meeting with an SGSF team member.
If your mentor objective is complete and your search has been broad but you are
still unable to find a match, please contact the SGSF’s Community Builder &
Engagement Specialist, Bri at . While we will put
forth our best effort, it is our hope that all SUPERGirls are matched before our
Induction Ceremony.
All High School SUPERGirls who meet at least 85% of participation from Sept to
