SUPERGirls SHINE Foundation was created to fulfill a necessary need by providing underserved girls and women opportunities to flourish in fields that have been predominantly held by white men in STEM & Innovation careers. The ability to transform their lives for the better by exposure plus access with tangible opportunity in STEM, Innovation & Leadership initiatives is our secret weapon. Once a girl/woman realizes and believes she is not disadvantaged, she can no longer be taken advantage of. 

Did you know that women comprise 50% of the population and 49% of the total U.S. workforce, but only hold 24% of all STEM positions? Another unfortunate fact is that a woman working in STEM makes 86 cents for every dollar that her male STEM counterpart makes. When issues of gender and race intersect, it can create challenging hurdles for women of color that work in science and engineering fields. According to the National Science Foundation, women of color have stated they feel isolated, lack confidence, question their capabilities, as well as lacking mentorship and managerial support.

These facts highlight the harsh realities that women face in science and engineering, especially for women of color. To alleviate and reduce these issues that women face as STEM professionals, we created the SUPERGirls SHINE Foundation to give girls the confidence and knowledge to prepare them to triumph over such difficult circumstances. The impact created at our organization is because of our funders, Champions, donors, the SUPERLady NetWORK, and our leadership team. We will continue to ensure that underserved girls' dreams are realized but their dreams and goals become realized too.
